How it all began: the La Briquette adventure

My name is Valentin Moignoux, I am 18 years old, and I am the founder of La Briquette®. I have always been passionate about building bricks, and I started my company at 16 with a clear ambition: to bring together play, culture and heritage through unique building sets.

My entrepreneurial adventure began in 2022. I was 16, and an idea came to me: what if I created building sets representing the symbols of my region, Northern Catalonia?

Here, heritage is everywhere: iconic monuments, a rich history and strong traditions. Yet I felt something was missing: an original and playful way to showcase them. Building bricks were the perfect solution.

The Catalan Donkey, where it all started

For my first model, I wanted a strong emblem, a symbol everyone would recognise instantly. The Catalan donkey was the obvious choice. Seen on the roads, in traditions and even on flags, it was the perfect symbol to launch the La Briquette® adventure.

After several weeks of work, I designed a first version in bricks. But having an idea is not enough: you also have to make it real and sell it. So I decided to approach local shops directly, prototypes under my arm. And it took off straight away!

Very quickly, hundreds of boxes were sold, and La Briquette® was born.

From regional symbols to iconic monuments

After the success of the Catalan Donkey, I kept expanding the range with the Catalan Snail, another well-known regional symbol. It was just as well received, and La Briquette® became a reference for brick souvenirs.

Then an even more ambitious project came along: the Pyrénées-Orientales department asked me to reproduce several historic monuments in bricks. That is how the models of the Palace of the Kings of Majorca, the Royal Castle of Collioure and the Priory of Serrabone were born.

This turning point marked a major step for La Briquette®. The goal was no longer just to offer brick souvenirs, but to create genuine cultural and historical reproductions.

Today: a success that reaches beyond Catalonia

Since then, La Briquette® has worked with many tourist sites and museums, creating unique models that let visitors take home a miniature replica of the history they have just discovered.

The company has been recognised for its innovation, notably as a finalist of the Prix Alfred Sauvy, and the sets are now found in specialist shops and with an ever wider audience.

But this is only the beginning. Every place has a story to tell, and I am convinced that bricks are a wonderful way to share it.

La Briquette® is not just brick souvenirs. It is a playful and original way to pass on history and share a passion for heritage.
